Cade the Crawler and Fall in Columbus

The last couple of weeks have been busy for the Johnston household. Cade has mastered the army crawl and is always on the move. It was difficult to keep him still for his 35 week photo shoot!

Cade loves to crawl to his bouncy seat and lay under it. Not sure what the appeal is, but he loves it.

Cade dressed up as a duck for trick-or-treating on Halloween. Fun fact, Halloween is interchangeably referred to as "Beggar's Night" in Columbus. Cade was indifferent to trick-or-treating. He reached for one or two pieces of candy and liked the big Twizzler the best. I'm pretty sure it was the crinkly wrapper.

That is one cute duck... who likes to bite toes!

Cade is working on a bunch of new teeth all at once. He's been a bit grumpy and his sleep hasn't been up to par the last couple of days. But, who can blame him? It has to be a tad uncomfortable to have a couple teeth pushing through your gums all at once. If I can pin him down for a picture, I'll be glad to share.

He's so peaceful when he sleeps, maybe those teeth will ease up.
Peter is very busy with work and school. He has a "Case Competition" this weekend. From what I understand, his group of 4 students is given a couple hours to look over a Human Resource case (a business scenario that needs a solution). Then they take the next couple hours to develop a solution and presentation. Near the end of the competition, they present their solution and are judged against the other teams for the best solution. He's very excited to get some Case experience under his belt.

Cade and Daddy
As for me, I've been busy with a work out class, Moms' Bible study, walks with Cade on the Greenbelt and developing the Etsy shop for my Mom's dresses.

Enjoy the photos. Feel free to leave a comment about how adorable our little guy is....!

Cade's favorite things this month are... Sam and shoelaces.
Good thing Sam's so patient.

Cade thought this basket was wonderful and getting to play inside, even better!

Week 35

Cade is on the move! It's getting harder and harder to pin him down for these weekly photos. But, it's amazing to see how much he's grown in (almost!) 8 short months.

Lately IPhone Photos

Like nearly everyone (I assume), I don't have near enough available storage to download the new IPhone operating system. So, in a vain attempt to free up enough storage for the download, I moved all of my phone's pictures to the computer. Even though it didn't help my storage problem, I think it benefits the blog to have even more cute Cade photos. ;)

  • Cade was a duck for Halloween. We went to Boo at the Zoo and he received a full-size Airhead. He must like its pliability. He chewed on the wrapper the rest of the night.
  • You'll notice Cade standing at the cooler. This is one of his most favorite play toys. The sound of the wheels turning is mesmerizing, apparently.
  • Peter and I went to the Ohio State v. Penn State game. The half time show was really neat with a Hollywood theme. A T Rex (from Jurassic Park) is eating a Michigan football player in that picture. Peter got a new hat. We've heard that he looks like he's wearing dog ears. We're okay with that...!
  • Cade's grandmothers dressed him in style for the Halloween season. He was Mommy's Little Monster and a Glow-in-the-dark Skeleton.

Cade's facial expressions kill me. They are priceless. And his hair does some pretty cool things too!
Quick poll: Who do you think he looks like now? Me? or Peter?

  • Cade loves to swing at the park. We've been going as often as we can, trying to take in the nice weather before winter sets in.
  • On Wednesdays, we go to a local church's Open Gym for little kids. They have a ton of toys laid out for everyone to play with. Cade spends a lot of his time at Open Gym with that lap toy. He pushes every button over and over again.
  • Another favorite toy of his is the set of blocks. He loves to chew on them and knock them over after I stack them high. Another amusing past time is to attempt crawling over them when they're in the box. He's surprisingly adept at it.
  • Cade loves to eat. Pictured, you'll see a huge avocado mess that he so enjoyed. Next to that photo is a picture of him sucking on a slice of mango. Who needs hands? Sam is keeping a close watch to see if he'll get some.
  • And, finally, another grandparent gift. Cade has been enjoying his Raggedy Andy toy. He especially likes the hair and buttons.

Leeds Farm

Last weekend, we visited a local farm to pick out a Halloween pumpkin. This farm is so great. They have lots of pettable animals (pigs, donkeys, goats), huge boxes of corn with toys, zip lines, a huge pumpkin trampoline, slides, a combine slide, a hay barn to play in and barrels to roll around. Next year, when Cade can walk, he will absolutely love this place. There were kids running around having a great time. We played in the corn boxes, petted animals and slid down the slides. It was really cold but oh so fun!
